Nano-Emulsified Edibles vs Normal: What's The Difference?
Nano-emulsified or fast acting edibles are a newer product in the cannabis market but they have changed how many people have viewed edibles. These products have changed how and when people dose their gummies, offering a different experience, or a combined experience.
Nano Emulsification, in basic terms, enhances water solubility of cannabinoids that tend to be more fat soluble. This allows THC to become absorbable through mucous membranes (throat, stomach, gut lining and more!) and avoids the liver. Because the cannabinoids will cross these barriers more efficiently and avoids the slow metabolism of the liver, more of the THC ultimately gets absorbed into the bloodstream than a typical gummy (making you higher, faster!).
The way traditional gummies are typically infused butter or oil carries for the THC until the liver breaks it down. This process takes longer, and is influenced by many other factors, such as the individuals metabolism rates and type of food in the stomach. Fatty food will absorb the THC giving it a greater chance of absorption while on the digestive tract. Because of these factors, traditional gummies are harder to dose consistently compared to emulsified gummies.
The comparison between the two seems small on the package, but these differences do impact the experience and can be used in combination to create a unique effect! Because nano gummies act fast, they also leave the system fast. This is great if you are looking for that quick effect, but not for a long effect. Traditional gummies work in the opposite – they take longer to take effect but will leave you with high longer. Some people take advantage of these characteristics especially for sleep – taking a fast-acting sleep gummy to fall asleep, then a traditional gummy to keep them asleep throughout the night.
